Loggerhead Cove: A Charitable Sea Turtle Event

Loggerhead Cove
Final Design Solutions & Branding Package
Following the creation of the mood board, wireframes were constructed. The wireframes served as a means of providing a visual of the website for Loggerhead Cove. The web comps below are representative of the mood board and overall Loggerhead Cove brand. They take elements from the mood board and bring them to life in the form of an interactive and functional website. These wireframes incorporate shapes (circles and rectangles) and visual elements that can easily be associated with the brand.
Guided by both the mood board and the wireframes, the next step of this project resulted in the creation of website comps. The static web comps below depict the interactive and functional website for Loggerhead Cove. They incorporate the two fonts that are highlighted in the mood board (Rock Out & Work Sans), include relative shapes, and incorporate hierarchal placement of elements. More than a visually appealing website, these web comps support the claim of being interactive and user-friendly through it's use of a simple navigation bar and an ocean background that includes a sea turtle. The decision to use this background is supported by the idea that the background image is intended to portray movement. The web comps adopt additional elements from the mood board by placing the artists & other images within circles, placing the text within transparent boxes (which also makes the website easier to read), and by utilizing buttons that incorporate the colors that are highlighted within the brand.
The static web comp mockups above display two examples of the web comps in action.

The images above depict the initial and final logo design solutions for Loggerhead Cove. While the first design solutions were visually appealing, they did not accurately represent the most effective design solution (specifically one that appeals most to the target audience while still managing to represent the event and overall brand). The final design solution included removing the logo mark (turtle graphic) and including fonts that are directly associated with the brand. The final and most effective solution for this brand's logo was going with a logotype. Not only does the logo type represent the elements presented in the mood board (alternative, indie-rock bands, etc), but it also appeals to the intended target audience. As a result, the logo stands as an effective solution towards promoting more awareness and encouraging maximum participation.
After creating the final design solutions for this brand, promotional advertisements were created to further promote the event and encourage maximum participation. The following advertisements are strong representations of the Loggerhead Cove event and brand. They highlight the connection between the headlining bands and the benefit event, and promote the idea of "talking trash." The talking trash concept serves as an oxymoron that references ocean pollution. By talking about ocean pollution and the harm it does to marine life, we can begin to work on addressing the problems that ocean pollution cause and ultimately decreasing the deaths of sea turtles. Like the other elements in this brand, these advertisements utilize the headlining font Rock Out and body copy font Work Sans. They actively invite the audience to participate and see themselves as a part of the problem, solution (and the event) by utilizing pronouns like "I talk" and "We talk." To effectively persuade the audience to take action, the advertisements include a call to action that further explains the event, it's cause, and how the target audience can get involved. By providing the option to take a pledge, these advertisements incorporate an elevated level of appeal and underlying sense of urgency.
The two images above are mockups that serve as two examples of the advertisements in action.

The final design solution for this project was the construction of a promo video. The promotional video for Loggerhead Cove tells a visual story and serves as a visual representation of the event and it's purpose. By visually walking the target audience through the event, it serves as an additional means of encouraging participation. Including sea turtles, blue and green hues, editing the music to the beat of the video, utilizing an indie-rock song, showing target audience members enjoying the event, displaying live bands, reiterating the cause of the event, and including a strong call to action at the end, are all examples of this promotional video not only being a strong representation of the ability to create a promo video, but also the ability to accurately incorporate the elements presented in the static design solutions in a real time promotional video that highlights the brand elements included in the mood board, and ultimately bring the Loggerhead Cove event to life.
